Industrial and commercial roofing certainly isn't a cake-walk. Like any construction occupation, it can be hazardous.
The roofing industry’s most common accident is falling from heights. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) website,
“Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees.” - OSHA
In addition to working at heights, roofers encounter many other hazards on the job, including power tools, electricity, noise, and extreme temperatures.
The good news is that contractors can control and minimize these hazards by staying educated on the latest safety guidelines. Facilitating employee education also reduces risk. However, failing to stay current on these topics can jeopardize the safety of roof technicians and a business’s employees and tenants.
That’s why safety should be a key consideration when hiring a quality industrial and commercial roofing contractor. For commercial roofing services, Twin Cities area facility owners can count on Roof Tech to be up to the industry standard for safety.
Prioritizing Safe, Quality Roofing Services Since Day One
Roof Tech has always strived to be at the forefront of safety training programs.
From enrolling our technicians in union apprenticeship programs, to earning Silver and Gold awards in the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association’s (MCRA) Safety/Elite Roofing Contractor Program year after year, Roof Tech has continued to set the example by prioritizing employee safety.
When the MCRA rolled out their new SHARP Plus Safety award program, our President, Bob Poutre, took initiative and got involved. He knew the certification would expand Roof Tech's commitment to safety even further.
A Certified Safe Award That Sets Us Apart
Adding to our portfolio of awards and accolades, we proudly present our MCRA SHARP Plus Safety Certification.
As a 2022 recipient of this award, Roof Tech has distinguished itself from the competition. Roof Tech was the first and only Minnesota contractor to take part in the program.
The SHARP Plus Safety program focuses on safety training in specific subjects for commercial roofing contractors. Webinars and educational sessions on topics such as steep slope safety, ladder safety, heat illness, and fall protection ensure that roofing contractors have the necessary training to protect roofing technicians.
The SHARP Plus Safety training program will be offered by the MCRA annually. Our President, Bob Poutre, intends to take part in the program every year. The subject matter will always be fresh and up-to-date as it evolves with the latest safety regulations.
